The Definition Of Relays

A Relay is an electrical control device, used for controlling, protecting, and switching circuits, which can provide a specified input quantity and keep it for a long enough time so that the controlled quantity will undergo a predetermined step change in the electrical output circuit. When the input volume drops to a certain level and maintains for enough time, it returns to the initial state. Relay is an automatic switching component with isolation function, which is widely used in remote control, telemetry, communication, automatic control, mechatronics, and power electronic equipment. It is one of the most important control components. 

Classification Of Relays

Classified according to the working principle or structural characteristics:

1. Electromagnetic Relay

An electromagnetic relay is an electronic switch that uses electromagnets to open and close circuits. It works by using the suction force generated between the electromagnet core and the armature.

2. Solid-state Relay

A relay in which the electronic components perform their functions without mechanical moving components, and the input and output are isolated.

3. Temperature Relay

A relay that operates when the outside temperature reaches a given value.

4. Reed Relay

A relay that is sealed in a tube and has dual functions of an electric shock reed and an electromechanical coil to control the flow of current.

5. Time Relay

When the input signal is added or removed,  the time relay is specialized in controlling the timing of a switch's opening or closing.

6. High-frequency Relay

High-frequency relays are used to switch high-frequency circuit relays. High-frequency signal relays with a switching frequency below 100MHz are called high-frequency relays.

7. Polarized Relay

Polarization relay refers to the relay that is operated by the combined action of the polarized magnetic field and the magnetic field generated by the control current passing through the control coil.
